Why haven't I gotten my schedule in the mail? We actually haven't printed a paper schedule since the summer of 2001. The film industry has changed so much over the past few years that distributors are reluctant to give us play dates as far in advance as they used to. So for now, the best way to keep updated is to sign up to receive our weekly e-mail updates, and we'll keep you informed of what's playing with a review, showtimes and information on what's coming soon.
Why isn't there an ending date on the film you're playing now? Because WE don't even know when it's ending. Being off schedule gives us the flexibility to determine a film's run on a week to week basis...if there is audience interest, we'll likely be holding it over, but if we're playing it to twelve people, you can take bets it will end on Thursday! As soon as we know when a film will be ending, we will post the "ENDS THURSDAY" on the website, usually by the Tuesday before it will end.
Why don't you have any daytime shows during the week? For several years we had an afternoon showing on Fridays, and it was very scantly attended 90% of the time. Also, customers seem to have a problem with the parking situation in our neighborhood during weekday hours.
Where are we supposed to park? We are located underneath an entire parkade! It's free to park on the weekends and you only need to pay until 6 p.m. on the weekdays. There are also several ground level spots in the vicinity in business lots that have closed by 5 p.m., and although we can't make any promises, we've never had any complaints from them about our customers parking in their lots.
Are you handicap accessible? Yes!! Upon entering the auditorium there is a ramp to the left and if you are in a wheelchair you are more than welcome to park it along the back of that ramp and either sit there or have someone help you to a cinema seat.
Do you have air conditioning? No, but because our theater is built under a parkade it's very cave-like in the auditorium and stays relatively cool in the summer time. We also have ceiling fans in the auditorium to help keep you cooler!
Is your popcorn fresh? DEFINITELY! And we've often been told it's the best in town. We pop fresh popcorn for every show. It is popped in canola oil and lightly seasoned, plus you can add real butter, parmesan cheese or brewer's yeast for a quarter a scoop!
Why are you still showing <name of movie here>?! It's been here for WEEKS! We appreciate your patience when we have a movie that remains popular enough for a longer than "usual" run. With only one screen, we know that can be difficult for our regular patrons who depend on a faster turn around. But please keep in mind that (1) a popular movie is helping to bring in money that keeps our doors open during the many slow months that rear their ugly head; (2) if a film was continuing to do well and we were to pull it off the screen, that film's distributor might not be so keen on letting us have their NEXT movie; and (3) we are hopefully introducing our wonderful theater to many new, up and coming customers to join you in your quest for better art, foreign and independent film!
Can I buy advanced tickets? It usually doesn't warrant it, but when we are busy with something, we sell tickets up to TWO DAYS IN ADVANCE. Please look at the showtimes and avoid coming during the 30 minutes prior to a movie's start-up time when we are trying to get that audience seated. We appreciate your consideration and you will bypass their long line!
When do you open? We are always open at least 30 minutes prior to the first showing of the day and stay open until at least 30 minutes after the last showing of the day.
Don't you have any more answers to our faqs? Yes, we have a lot of answers for you! Keep asking us questions and we'll keep on adding to the list.
