Materialists
A movie about finding love but also falling in love with yourself, MATERIALISTS will make you want to embrace all your imperfect qualities.
Unafraid to grapple with thoughtful conversations and moments of internal crisis, MATERIALISTS exudes a chic glamour as it interrogates the tough choices, motivations and consequences of modern romance. It’s very much a sparkling romantic comedy in which a young woman (Dakota Johnson) finds herself torn between a wealthy man (Pedro Pascal) who can offer her a life of comfort and ease versus another much poorer man (Chris Evans) who, nonetheless, understands the deepest, truest parts of her inner self. And it does so with a stylish, romantic sophistication and ease. Director Celine Song’s ability to distill the most intricate concepts of the human heart into something achingly simple, yet profoundly resonant, was evident in PAST LIVES and MATERIALISTS is yet another example of that talent. The result is something genuine, honest, mature and emotionally rewarding.RomancePT1H56MR2025-06-13Dakota Johnson
