It's 1954 in New York City. The Golden Age of live television. And aspiring junior writer Benjy Stone lands his dream job--a dream that quickly becomes a nightmare in My Favorite Year. Young Benjy (Mark Linn-Baker) gets assigned to escort the show's guest star for the week, movie legend Alan Swann (Peter O'Toole)--a lovable, alcoholic rogue and Benjy's hero. Benjy must make sure Swann arrives on set, on time and sober. Simple. But Swann sweeps Benjy into a whirlwind romp through the City as the star tutors his new protégé in the fine arts of exuding confidence, charming women and becoming gloriously drunk. The wonderful week comes to a shocking end when Swann realizes he has agreed to appear live--something the movie star has never done, something that terrifies him.
