He reconnects with his estranged daughter, Liesl (Mia Threapleton), a novice nun he hasn't seen in six years. He is prepared to make her his sole heir to protect his interests and takes her and a tutor, Bjorn (Michael Cera), on a globe-trotting trip, zig-zagging across Modern Greater Independent Phoenicia, striking spurious and comically intricate deals with old associates (Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Riz Ahmed, Mathieu Amalric, Scarlett Johansson).
